Lee Valley Riding Centre

Lee Valley Riding Centre offers entry level sessions for children aged 5 - 15 years (maximum weight 12st/76k).  These Have A Go lessons are booked in advance online.

It is often possible for children with disabilities, medical or behavioural needs, or who are neurodiverse, to join these lessons.  However, before booking, parents should contact the Riding Centre to request an Access Form to assess whether a Have A Go or a private one-on-one lesson is a more suitable starting point. 

After assessing the form, the team will get back to advise the next step.  Riding Centre instructors are all Accessibility Mark trained, but there is no specialist equipment (hoist, Inky Dinky or Hippolib saddles, Alice reins).  Riders therefore need to be able to hold their own balance in the saddle.  Wheelchair users mount from a ramp, as long as (assisted) they are briefly able to stand while mounting.   The Riding Centre has auto doors, disabled toilets, dedicated parking spaces and no stairs or steps.
