Accessibility
The Hackney Short Breaks website at ShortBreaks.Hackney.gov.uk is managed by Hackney Short Breaks on behalf of Hackney Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, and we’re committed to making it accessible in line with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Using this website
We want this website to be usable by everyone. For example, you should be able to:
change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
zoom in up to 300% without text spilling off the screen
navigate most of the site using a keyboard or speech recognition software
listen to most of the website using a screen reader (such as JAWS, NVDA or VoiceOver)
We’ve also tried to make the website easy to understand.
If you find any part of this website difficult to use, please let us know — we’re always looking to improve accessibility wherever possible.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Hackney Short Breaks is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard, due to exemptions listed below.
Less accessible content
The content listed below may not be fully accessible for the following reasons.
Some PDFs or downloadable documents may not be fully accessible to screen readers.
Some embedded third-party tools (for example booking widgets or Google Maps) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
Some colour contrast combinations may fall slightly below the recommended 4.5:1 ratio due to Squarespace theme limitations.
Some contact or booking forms are built using Squarespace’s built-in form blocks. While these forms are generally accessible, a few elements — such as field labels, error messages and focus indicators — may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria. We are monitoring this and will adjust our form setup wherever possible to improve compatibility with assistive technologies.
Disproportionate burden
Some third-party elements built into Squarespace templates cannot easily be modified for full compliance (for example the built-in cookie banner or certain form elements).
We believe fixing these at code level would represent a disproportionate burden under the accessibility regulations, but we will continue to monitor for alternative solutions provided by Squarespace.
Content not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 are exempt, unless essential for providing our services.
